Bio-Calm contains a mixture of magnesium, calcium, valerian root, Vitamin D3, Vitamin B6, and niacinamide. It is chelated with amino acids to promote better absorption and utilization within the intestinal walls. This combination of herbs, minerals, and vitamins works to relax nerves and muscles. Magnesium, especially, aids in muscle relaxation. Hence, Bio-Calm is specially formulated with a 3 to 2 magnesium/calcium ratio.
NUTRITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Calcium builds and maintains bones and teeth, is essential for healthy blood, helps regulate heartbeat, eases insomnia, assists in blood clotting, and plays a part in muscle growth and contraction. It also aids in iron utilization, activates several enzymes, and regulates the passage of nutrients in and out of cells.
Vitamin D is the most important factor in the absorption of calcium. Antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E are also important, as are the minerals magnesium and phosphorus. Stress and too little exercise can decrease the body's absorption.
Magnesium is a mineral important in relaxing muscles. It regulates the pH balance, helps regulate body temperature, and aids in the metabolism of carbohydrates and amino acids. Magnesium also is needed to rebuild muscle after an injury as it functions in protein and lipid metabolism. Magnesium is a cofactor in many enzymes including those responsible for energy metabolism.
Vitamin K is necessary for blood clotting and normal liver function. Vitamin K also is responsible for the regulation of calcium in bone mineralization. Vitamin K supplements in post menopausal women may increase bone density. Vitamin K also inhibits the growth of calcium oxalate stones in the kidneys by supporting proper kidney function.
Pyridoxine and Niacinamide aid in the utilization of both magnesium and calcium.
